DESCRIPTION:
LAST MINUTES is a flash game in which the player is able to explore a brief moment in a high-tension situation by discovering clues which lead to the final revelation.
SYNOPSIS:
A tense hostage situation is in progress. A stalwart Police Chief and his SWAT marksman square off against a determined bystander and a young girl with a deadly weapon. In the next brief moments the lives of these four people will be terribly and irrevocably changed…
THE INSPIRATION:
The preceding image (”Jednorozec” by Marek Okońwas) was the inspiration for LAST MINUTES. We wanted to recreate the tension and the drama in the image. We felt it was provocative, and if we could construct other equally intriguing characters to balance it out, we would have an engaging piece.
INTENT:
When we read a newspaper headline or hear a breaking story on the news, are we being told the complete and unadulterated series of events? Are facets of the truth being concealed from us? In LAST MINUTES our intent was to explore the hidden story behind the headlines. Every story has two sides and the whole truth is only revealed to those conscientious few who exert the effort to uncover it.

MY ROLE AND LESSONS LEARNED
As Project Lead on LAST MINUTES, I was overseeing all aspects of the production, juggling playing the role of the doctor myself with scheduling, managing and directing. I was making sure Joshua’s elaborate 3D set was up to spec and that we were getting all the raw photographs we needed in order to tell our story. It became a concern whether the virtual background would be finished and rendered in time for the final compositing, but in the end everyone came through. This being my first real management role, I was more than a little trepidatious at the outset. However, being able to have such a hands-on approach on so many different facets of the production was very exciting and extremely educational. Watching it all come together on schedule was satisfying indeed. The project would serve as a trial run for our next project: the much more ambitious LAST RITES.
